The main land border crossing between Iraq and Kuwait is now again open for people and trucks to go through it. This is the crossing that connects Iraq’s Safwan crossing in Basra with Kuwait’s Abdali border.

Kuwaiti officials had previously announced that the crossing would reopen within 48 hours, stressing that the incident would not be allowed to disrupt trade or travel between the two countries.
The reopening comes as Iraq and Kuwait continue efforts to strengthen economic cooperation despite heightened regional security concerns. The border crossing remains an essential corridor for commercial exchange and movement between the Gulf state and southern Iraq, with authorities pledging to maintain close coordination should security conditions change.
